Background on AKU-VIP

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­The Aga Khan University’s Virtual Internship Programme (AKU-VIP) offers placements in East Africa, South and Central Asia, Europe, and North America with the international development agencies of The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) – One of the world’s largest network that works on programmes dedicated to improving the quality of life and opportunities of vulnerable communities and spans across 30 countries.

The programme provides a critical learning opportunity that goes beyond simple work experience and instead focuses on thinking outside of the box, developing strong leadership skills, being critically reflexive, and learning new ways of doing things in a virtual environment. Interns will be assigned manageable, well-thought-out work assignments that can be accomplished off-site and evaluated using online tools. 

Summer 2024 Virtual Internship Programme Recruitment Timelines:

• Application Period: Tuesday, 02 April 2024 to Sunday, 05 May 2024 (23:59 Hrs. PST)
• Assessment and Interview Dates: Monday, 06 May 2024 to Monday, 27 May 2024
• Acceptance & Payment: Monday, 27 May 2024 to Wednesday, 05 June 2024
• Internship Start Date: Monday, 10 June 2024 to Monday, 02 September 2024
